Update: 20090908 1345 hours -=- My case worker returns my call and arranges for me to come to the office with the paper that identifies Walgreens as participating in the program. I have published information on the web and I ask my case worker if I can present that information by accessing web pages and I am faced with the restriction that they are not allowed web access from their office machines. I state that as an autistic I have communication issues so I need different ways of presenting information besides what I can say and present on paper. I offer to bring my machine in and connect it to a projector to present information.
I am told that DOR is not technically advanced enough to be able to do that. Twenty first century issues and twentieth century level of understanding in a world where those perceptive enough to see the state of Renaissance that is happening now

Update: 20090908 1102 hours -=- I call to inquire as to the progress of my case. I get to leave a message with my caseworker. I leave my landline and cell number.

Update: 20090831 -=- I take medical records to establish that I have Asperger's Syndrome

Update: 20090828 1425 hours -=- I went in for my first visit. Apparently my records had been archived. It was workability that I came in with and worklink I went out with. It seems that there is Workability 2 and Workability IV.
They funnel the people with Masters and Ph.D.'s into worklink in the city.

Hello, I have Asperger's Syndrome.
In the 80's I came in contact with the Deprtment of Rehabilitation(DOR) for whatever reason.
Then in 1989 I started a job delivering pizzas which I thought was only going to last over the Christmas holidays but turned into a job that I worked at for 14 years. Over time I went back for services, there never having much come of it as DOR is clueless about what to do with autistics.
Forty four years after I started going to Cal State Hayward I find out that they have an office called and I need to research this, the Disabled Student Assistance Center. I went there as they proported to know of the need to expend the extra energy that is necessary to allow autistics to gain entry into the work force.
They knew about Autism Speaks the organization and referred me to DOR and workability.
I went to the DOR orientation meeting Thursday Aug 13, 2009. Why they sent me there I don't know. I fully expect DOR not to be any less clueless now than they were before, and its only been a couple of years since I had last contact with them. Part of the package that I received from DOR during the orientation was a warning that people in my situation were much more likely to be victimized by predators. If I thought this was the case which it surely was I should call this number which happened to be the number of the Richmond DOR. I called that number at about 10:30 AM on Friday the 14th the next day and the phone rang and rang and rang
