The theme for this page, Conquering High Branches, is to commemorate Paul Nussbaum who
planned and executed a trans sierra cross country ski trip from near Crane Flat in Yosemite
National Park on the West side of the Sieras to Lee Vining on the East side of Sierras, near
Mono Lake the Conquering Heights Expedition.
Paul did this to publicize the abilities of people with Asperger's Syndrome.
In the pre crossing work Paul somehow got the contact info for a
slew of newspapers and sent notices of the event.
Not a single newspaper gave him any coverage.
Standby for Conquering Heights the Sequel
There was recently screened PBS Documentary "Today's Man" which screened at the February meeting of AASCEND
The film tells the story of Nicky Gottlieb who has Asperger Syndrome and lives in New York. The story follows Nicky's life from early childhood through the present, and includes a scene of him attending a meeting of GRASP
The story was reported in the New York Times. Paul Nussbaum's expedition and film is of a similar venue.
